On August 11th, 2008, the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS IX) at Full Tilt Poker is reaching its climax after another as the cash pools just keep getting larger. Sunday's Event Number 10 featured a $1.5 million grand prize and the Event#12 on Monday was no different.
Full Tilt Poker Pro and WSOP bracelet winner Eli Elezra joined in the poker action to play host to the FTOPS IX Event#12 as it got underway at 9:00 p.m. EST, showcasing a $1,060 buy-in costs to the NL Hold'em six seater event, 1,405 high-rolling Internet poker players took their seats to edge it out for the top cash prize of $300,000 -the highest first place reward in the FTOP IX.
The competition in the final table was fierce from beginning until the end, eventually ending with "omalos" finishing in third place to begin the heads-up showdown between "Garbally" and "bmf823". Though well matched in poker skills, the luck of the draw became an important factor as "bmf823" was declared the winner of the event just before 6:00 a.m. by Tuesday morning. "bmf823" was given a cash prize of $300,000 for his 1st place finish while "Garbally" won $198,000 for his 2nd place finish.
Full Tilt Poker pro Ram Vaswani finished in 5th place of $72,750 while teammate Phil Gordon finished in 7th place for $30,750. "bigtonyk123" finished in 6th place with $49,500.
