It was publicly announced on June 12th, 2008 that EGM Green's Poker Table, which is made with ninety-eight percent recyclable materials will be exhibited at the World Series of Poker 2008.
EGM Green is a project by Executive Gaming Monthly to offer environment friendly gambling products to the casino gaming market. They believe that by using environmentally friendly materials, the gambling industry can contribute to the reduction of waste in the environment. The wood used in the poker table is certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council.
The pains and wood varnish that are used in the poker table is free from formaldehyde and the table is built with using water based adhesives. The table can also improved the Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System for the materials deploying the poker table on the gambling floor of a casino.
EGM Green President Eric Hansel commented that they are very proud that Harrah's has picked to debut the EGM poker table at the 2008 World Series of Poker and they want to continue making environment friendly gaming products. The EGM table will be displayed at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino during the duration of the 2008 World Series of Poker.
Casino facilities will also have the opportunity to add wood footrings, armrests, wood finishes and other features on the table.
