Party Poker Nominates Mike Sexton for Poker Hall of Fame

Voting opened on May 26th, 2009 for poker enthusiasts for the 2009 Poker Hall of Fame nominees and campaigning for poker players has already started. Party Poker was quick to nominate Mike Sexton and encourages other poker enthusiasts and players to nominate him as well.

A Party Poker spokesperson said that they urge the poker community to vote for Mike Sexton's inclusion into the Poker Hall of Fame. The spokesperson added that Sexton has all the criteria of a Hall of Fame member and deserves to be included in the list of possible nominees. Not only is Mike Sexton a WSOP bracelet winner, he is also included in the top 10 for the most World Series of Poker cash-ins. Sexton is also widely recognize as the Ambassador of Poker. His poker accomplishments include winning the 1st $10,000 buy-in championship event at the Foxwoods World Poker finals and being the first US poker pro to win the Euro Finals of Poker in Paris, France.

In 2006, he also won the World Series of Poker Tournament of Championship and donated his entire $500,000 cash prize to charity. Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad said that she plans to vote for Mike Sexton because she is convince that Sexton deserves to be included into the Poker Hall of Fame this year. A total of 37 people have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since it was started in 1979. The sixteen members of the Hall of Fame include Doyle Brunson, Barbara Enright and others.

Once the public has passed their Hall of Fame nominations, the top 10 will be presented to the Hall of Fame committee to study and add anyone who was not included but deserving of the recognition. They will then send the ballots to the members to vote.

Those chosen for the Poker Hall of Fame will be inducted in November 2009 during the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event. Anyone who wants to place their vote for Mike Sexton or other players can log-in to worldseriesofpoker.com.
