The European Championship of Online Poker sponsored by Playtech which was held last December 2007, which has given out $2.5 million or 1.7 million euros or 1.26 million pounds in guaranteed cash prizes, helped Playtech's monthly sales record reached a record high. Poker, which composed for thirty percent of its total profit, is growing a lot faster compared with other online casino games, according to CEO Mor Weizer.
Playtech's licensees on the game of poker include Paddy Power Poker, VC Poker and Blue Square Poker. Playtech is also widely believed to be close to finalizing a deal to acquire online bingo software provider Virtue Fusion. The company is responsible for the backend of the Internet bingo interests of Mecca, William Hill and Bet65.
Aside from poker, Playtech already features bingo, casino, mobile and live casino gambling offerings. An agreement with Virtue Fusion would likely look like the agreement Playtech made with Tribeca table after the passage of the UIGEA on October 13th, 2006.
The deal bought Tribeca and other licensees like Paddy Power Poker, VC Poker and Blue Square Poker for $75 million or 51.1 million euros or 38.25 million pounds. The company also said that they are currently in the middle of talks with licensees in the Spanish and Italian markets as well as Asian online gambling operators.
The details of the agreement will be announced after the end of the initial quarter. Another license agreement with another Asian gambling operator will be also publicly revealed after the nod from the regulators.
