While a lot of poker players have given into the temptation of accepting sponsorship agreements, Scotty Nguyen has abstained from sponsorship offers until now. On May 14th, 2009, Expekt Poker announced that Nguyen has signed on as a poker ambassador for the online poker site. Nguyen said that he likes Expekt.com and its solid plans. He said that he is looking forward to be part of Expekt.com's future plans in the poker industry.
Nguyen, whose contract with the online site begins on May 15th, 2009, has more than $10 million in poker event winning. Nguyen's successes includes winning the 1998 WSOP Main Event as well as the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2008 World Series of Poker and three more WSOP bracelet wins. Expekt's pr manager, Dan Vikman said that they are really looking forward with working with Scotty Nguyen because he is one of the most exciting poker players in the circuit and they look forward with working Scotty Nguyen.
Nguyen will be offering his one-of-a kind poker skill to Expekt where he plans to offer a video blog two times a month and write an advice column once a month. Nguyen's future in the circuit and how much he can help the group could be up for talks if he fulfills his promise he made in a PokerListings TV video to quit poker if he does not earn $4 million at the 2009 World Series of Poker.
The online poker site could receive a lot of attention from Nguyen, as the poker industry keeps an eye on his progress in the 2009 WSOP. Nguyen seems to be hopeful about his chances and already has plans to represent the site at live poker events after the series.
