Valdemar Kwaysser Wins the PokerStars LAPT in Costa Rica

On May 25th, 2008, Valdemar Kwaysser from Hungary is the champion of the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour. Twenty-four year old Kwaysser, took home $280,000 for his win on the tournament that was held in San Jose, Costa Rica. A total of three hundred ninety-eight players participated in the $2,500 buy-in cost event, producing a $965,150 cash pool to be divided among the top thirty-two finishers in the event. Kwaysser played aggressively from the start, which landed him at trouble at first.

Ashton Griffin got things started with an A-eight against the eight-four of Kwaysser, only for Kwaysser to get a four on the turn. Kwaysser then edge out Steven Silverman with a ten-five and gives a pair of bad beats to Silverman. The pocket deuces of Kwaysser also improved to crack pocket 5's.

On both card hands, Kwaysser would receive 2 runner spade flushes. But Kwaysser proved his worth when he edge out Max Steinberg in the heads-up showdown, getting a pair of red aces on the final card hand. Before this event, Kwaysser most notable finished is when he finished in 3rd place in the PokerStars Sunday Million last May 2007, taking home $133,634.
