The World Poker Tour Will Launch At the River Rock Casino

The World Poker Tour Canada will start on their first event-the Coast to Coast Poker Championships, which is presented by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. The event will be held at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, British Columbia.

The World Poker Tour Canada is the assigned tour for Canada, which is the home of some of the best poker players in the world and where poker is experiencing an unprecedented growth.

Steve Lipscomb, the World Poker Tour founder, President and Chief Executive Officer commented that Canada is a good place for poker because it was able to produce top poker professionals and the WPT thinks that this is the right time to feature a tour in the country.

The tournament, which will start on May 5th, 2008 and will end on May 13th, 2008, it will feature multiple event options like a super satellite, bounty tournament and a $3,000 CDN Event where players can play against WPT Season IV Player of the Year Brad Booth, Gavin Smith and Canadian Poker Tour Player of the Year Jody Trainer.

The spokesperson for the WPT Poker Made Millionaire Antonio Esfandiari will also participate in the bounty and main events on behalf of the WPT. Esfandiari recently finished in 8th place out of 842 players at the recently concluded EPT Grand Finals in Monte Carlo.

The final table of the Coast to Coast Poker Championships will be on May 11th, 2008 and will be broadcast in Canada on a later date. Canadian Poker player Kenna James will be the commentator on the event together with sports announcer Jim Van Horne.
